Feist is a Canadian Treasure

Happy Monday! This weekend I stumbled across this wonderful video of Leslie Feist rehearsing a new song with the Kings of Convenience. Erlend Øye of Kings of Convenience recently confirmed in an interview that while Feist will feature on two tracks on the new Kings of Convenience album, this is not one of those two songs, and is most likely a track from Feist's upcoming solo album.

Leslie Feist + Kings of Convenience – PEOPLE 2018 rehearsal

Here are the lyrics, as best as I could decipher them.

Long long are the winters
Kill of all of the languid
Shadows gather long on the wall
Crossed the ice on the lake

Future of December
Memories of last summer
So I stoked it like a wood stove
I always wanted more

In this weight of our lives
Keep me lifted up like wings
The underneath of our lies
Effortlessness in it sing

Live up to what I sing to
As if I am telling the truth
I imagine who is listening
and it is not all of you I mean

La la in morning
When nylon blinds are open
And that is when I see the redwing
And the redwing sees me too

In this wait of our lives
Keep me lifted up like wings
And underneath of our lies
Effortlessness in it sing

Coming up behind you
Memories of punk rock
And the TV made that stupid
Frightening and two faced

It was la la la la

For anyone interested in playing it on guitar. It’s in standard tuning, with a capo on 3. The verse is: G, C, G, C, C, F, C, F. The chorus is: E to a minor.  Enjoy!
